Kristen Watson is an 800-hr Advanced Certified Jivamukti Yoga Instructor (pronounced Jee-Va-Mook-tea).
When i finally found Davidji and Sharonji in 2006, I “came home.” I walked into a class with them at the San Francisco Yoga Journal Conference not knowing anything about them, but on a quest looking for my next yoga teacher. Immediately I knew it would be them and that I would be completing their 2007 teacher training no matter what! David-ji, in his pink pants and a Choose Life tshirt, was talking about being nice and forgiving everyone…ahh Compassion! My whole life, people had told me I was Too NICE and Too Forgiving…finally someone who understood what I was feeling inside and could provide a path for me to follow.
David Life and Sharon Gannon offer the Jivamukti yoga method as a path to enlightenment. It is not for everyone, but for those interested in seeing the one-ness of All and connecting with Something Higher, Meaning God. This is the path of Yoga, this is the path of liberation, this is the path to Joy (Sukha).
In 2010, Kristen spent 4.5 more mths living and studying in NYC under the guidance of her beloved Mentor Sandhi, Gayatri, Ferreira and the mothership Jivamukti NY. After inviting David and Sharon to her test class at the end of her 500 hr apprenticeship, she passed the Advanced Certification Test in January 2011. Since then she has gone on to travel the world to share the Jivamukti yoga method with others and has now traded in her dream land of Encinitas, CA for her dream man of Basel, Switzerland. Luckily with Jivas everywhere, home is where the heart is.
This style of yoga was founded in 1984 and is now one of the nine internationally recognized forms of Hatha Yoga. Drawing from the ancient texts, as well as their gurus Shri K Pattabhi Jois, Shri Brahmananda Sarasvati, and Swami Nirmalananda, Davidji and Sharonji have created a practice that is challenging as well as uplifting and even enlightening! The “Jivanmukta” is one who is liberated while living…After all there is no time like the present!
Incorporated into each class are the five tenets of Jivamukti Yoga: Scripture (drawing from the Source thru ancient texts), Bhakti (devotion to God), Ahimsa (living an ethical lifestyle and the practice of non-harming), Nada (yoga of sound and vibration), and Meditation (connecting to the unchanging reality within).
So come experience Jivamukti Yoga and be inspired to LIVE as you awaken to your path on and off the mat!
